So if you have not guessed… nature images are “deer to my heart”….
I was born & raised in Montana – even though I have not lived there in many, many moons…. it is just there…. and always will be.
I grew up hunting, fishing, playing & working outdoors right next to the Rocky Mountains.
And while life has a way of dragging me away from that, it is a dream to get back there someday…. but while I’m here dreaming, I can have a bit of home right here in my craft studio.
As one project leads to another…. I was trying out a reflection technique and it didn’t quite work out, so I ended up doing a masking technique.
You stamp your image on your card base, then I stamped the same image on a post it note.
Then I cut out that stamped image and placed it over the top of my original stamped image.
Then while my post it was on my original image, I stamped the trees around the moose image. This created a negative space that was not stamped on top of the moose…..
So the moose ended up looking as if it was in front of the trees and the images merged together.
I used the Memento Ink by Close to My Heart so I would be able to color my image in without any of the black ink bleeding and smearing.
With a combination of watercolor pencils and sponging on ink, I created this background around the stamped image.
Here is another card I created using the same technique but with the Elk stamp from the CTMH Nature’s Wish stamp set.
If only I could have gotten an Elk like this in my hunting days.
Now I have the perfect card for any occastion, to send to my Father who still lives in Montana.

Have a great day!
Here is another simple ornament made using basic shapes within the Silhouette Studio program.
I created a long rectangle belt after measuring the circumference of my square ornament, which I then cut out of black 651 vinyl.
Then I made 2 squares and used the Subtract all feature to make the belt, which I cut out of silver 651 vinyl.
I then used transfer tape to place the images onto my ornament.
And added a few clear rhinestones with some E6000 glue and you have a simple Santa belt ornament.
Hope you are able to create something today!
When I first saw this set in our new Annual Insprations catalog, I knew I had to have it. Born & raised in Montana, nature & fishing runs in my blood and oh how I miss it. There is just no place like home.
But I can play with things that remind me of it & this was perfect.
I created this card with a CTMH stamp set called Hooked on You and then used my watercolor pencils to color the image in.
The trees are stamped with an image from the CTMH Nature’s Wish stamp set.

When I’m working with an image that will need to be colored or water colored I use an in that is not going to smear. I usually stamp all my black images with CTMH Black Archival ink, because I like the crisp clear image…. however, in this case I use the Memento Tuxedo Black & it provides a crisp image that doesn’t smear when colored.
You can use the Black Archival ink for colored images but it’s best if it’s dried completely or heat set before coloring to prevent smearing.
Have a wonderful day!
As I approached my first instruction class, I wanted to create a Demo book to show interested Silhouette customers projects that I had completed with my Silhouette Cameo.
I took the new Sea Glass photo album from Close to My Heart and decided to add some vinyl to the front cover to personalize it a bit.
I took some Oracal 631 Black vinyl, even though it’s temporary, I have great luck with it sticking and if I want to re-design it, I can just peel it off and stick a new one on.
I used the hinge method to apply it to get it positioned where I wanted on the album.
By doing this, you apply a piece of painter’s tape across the center to secure it on the album. Then, lift one half of the vinyl up & peel the backing off and cut the extra backing off.
Then you can lay the vinyl down on the album and burnish to your album.
Then you can remove the painter’s tape and are able to work with the other half of the design.
Remove the rest of the backing and you can smooth down the vinyl to your album.
Burnish it down really well and slowly peel back the transfer tape. This one did take a little bit of finesse to get it off the transfer tape.
I ended up applying this design in two pieces as my first cut of my logo was a bit too delicate and didn’t cut correctly. I just changed the font style and cut it again.
The finished project turned out great and it shows customers…. the Possibilities really are endless!!!
What can you create with a little bit of vinyl?
I have seen these ornaments all over Pinterest and I wanted to give them a shot, but I wanted to create the entire image myself, so I was not limited on the options I have to use it.
This was a pretty basic design to complete, since it uses basic shapes and fonts.
Make sure if you are going to reproduce these items for sale or to sell the cut file as an svg, that you are using a font that has a Commercial Use license, so everything is legal.
I positioned the design on one mat, then placed my vinyl on each space of my mat in the same position as in the Design Software.
The ornaments were purchased at Hobby Lobby and I used Polycrylic on the inside, let it drain well and then used extra fine glitter on the inside.
I cut all of my pieces and then pieced it together
Now to get these in the mail & make sure my little ones don’t see it before our elf Jingles brings it to them.

Who else is a planner?
I once was super organized & now I try. That’s the only way I can describe it….. I try!
I am very encouraged & motivated when I go to Planner night at our local Michael’s or hang with the Planner gals. But that doesn’t always transfer back to my planner.
However, I do tend to back fill my planner, which works great for many cases…. such as…. memory books, business planning & motivation to try to use it daily.
Close to My Heart has released this years version of 2017 planners & I had to grab them. They are available while supplies last & can be purchased in a bundle that includes a new album.
The Planner pages are available 3 ways….
1) bundled together with the Everyday Life Album—Stripes (CC1178, $31.90 USD/$40.75 CAD);
2) bundled together with the Everyday Life™ Album—Seaglass (CC1177, $31.90 USD/$40.75 CAD);
or 3) buy only the planner pages themselves (CC2017, $16.95 USD/$21.75 CAD).
These are available while supplies last.
I love that the monthly cover sheet is now color-able & each month is a new theme.
This is such a popular area of crafting right now, I’m excited it’s in our planners.
Check out this video for an up close look at what’s included in the Planner pages.
